SAYING "UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN"

Growing up with dogs all my life, I've had to say, "Until we meet again," too many times. It's the sad reality of being the parent of a four-legged, furry kid.

Today, I had to say "until we meet again" to my little man, Harley. That guy. He had such a hard beginning to life. And yet, he gave and gave in his own way. He was small, but he carried a load that would make Atlas sweat. His heart was huge. His love, bottomless.

IN CELEBRATION OF DAWN PATROL

I am really lucky to have friends in many different disciplines that possess amazing talent in their field. In the photography field, one such friend is José Mandojana. He's the guy who you can give any type of camera to and he'll make an amazing photograph. When he recently asked if I was interested in getting up ridiculously early to go make some photographs, of course I said YES!

A BIKE CAMPING DRY RUN

It all started innocently enough. About eighteen months ago, I found myself becoming more interested in pursuing a different type of riding rather than just commuting, fitness rides on the weekend, and the occasional cyclocross race. I had started noticing more images and stories of bikepacking, ultralight touring, etc. in my feeds and my interest was piqued. "This is exactly the thing I'm craving," I thought to myself. And so it began.

A NIGHTLY ROUTINE

Each night I check on the girl before going to bed and the end of another chaotic day slows down for the briefest of moments. For a small moment, the world is just me and my girl.

THE HARD MILES

I’m lucky to have friends as crazy as I am – who will ride in the dark for the majority of our ride week in and week out and often in the rain and wind. These are the hard miles. They test your soul. They wear you down.

BEST OF 2015: MUSIC

Music is a big part of my life. I wish I could say it's because I play, but I have little musical talent. Instead, I love listening to music and it truly is the soundtrack to my life. I don't know what I'd do without music; it's one of the finest art forms in my opinion. With 2015 drawing to a close, I reflect on 10 albums I thoroughly enjoyed this past year.

WHY I RIDE: WAKING UP WITH MY CITY

I've always enjoyed riding in the morning. I'm sure being a morning person plays a role, but there is something special about riding before the sun rises. For me, riding early has helped build a special connection with my city.
